Jim Terry brings nearly two decades of experience in both the policy and campaign arenas offering a broad array of legislative, strategic, communications and management skills that help clients build comprehensive, effective and winning campaigns.
A veteran of Capitol Hill, Jim has served as a campaign manager, political director and advisor on some of the most high profile races in the nation including Governor Mike Huckabee’s presidential bid in 2008.
Jim cut his political teeth running targeted legislative races in California and went on to serve in the California Legislature as Deputy Chief of Staff to then Minority Leader, and now Congressman, Kevin McCarthy.
Jim entered Federal politics when Rep. Ed Royce hired him as a staff member and a key advisor to his re-election team. In 2000, at the recommendation of Mr. Royce, Jim was asked to organize an unprecedented grassroots campaign for House Impeachment Manager Rep. Jim Rogan, utilizing over 1,200 volunteers in the top-targed congressional race of that year.
In early 2001, the House Republican Leadership tapped Terry to run the National Republican Congressional Committee's groundbreaking national grassroots program, STOMP. The STOMP program was widely credited with increasing turnout in crucial Congressional races and contributed to Republicans increasing their majority in 2002. The concepts developed and implemented in STOMP have since been made standard practice at all the major party committees.
In 2005, Jim managed the special election campaign of John Campbell and then served as Congressman Campbell’s Chief of Staff.
In addition to legislative and campaign experience, Jim delved into the policy arena when he was hired as the Chief Executive at the Free Enterprise Fund, a non-profit advocacy organization dedicated to advancing free-market policies.
Jim has been Principal at Third Dimension Strategies where he provided strategic consulting, management and paid media services to campaigns, Fortune 500 companies and non-profit organizations. Jim is credited with assisting the Consumer Rights League publicize research that exposed ACORN’s dirty dealings and became a catalyst for public outrage that ultimately resulted in stopping Federal money from flowing to the organization.
Jim has appeared on Fox News, CNN and countless talk radio outlets across the country and has testified before Congress.
