Michael Antonopoulos is a recognized up-and-comer in California Republican politics. In 2009, Michael was overwhelmingly elected California College Republican Chairman. Shortly thereafter, he was elected to represent thirteen College Republican state federations as the Western Region Vice Chairman of the College Republican National Committee.

Michael’s campaign experience is extensive, including numerous State Assembly and City Council races.  In 2006, Michael served as a Regional Political Director for Assemblyman Martin Garrick’s primary campaign and Assemblyperson Shirley Horton’s general election campaign.  In 2008 he served as a Deputy Campaign Manager for the Paul Hegyi for State Assembly Campaign during the primary and as a Deputy Campaign Manager for Phil Thalheimer for City Council in the general.  Michael then served as Grassroots Coordinator for the Abram Wilson for State Assembly Campaign.

In 2008, Michael was recruited by the Mitt Romney for President Campaign to serve as Communication Director for the California Students for Romney Campaign, where he pioneered web 2.0 and other new media applications to the campaign’s youth outreach efforts. After the primary, Michael was asked to serve as the State Chair of California Students for McCain. In this position, Michael oversaw the chartering of over 50 Students for McCain chapters across the state and pushed volunteers to make over 75,000 phone calls for McCain-Palin 2008.

Most recently, Michael served as the Field Director for the Campaign Against the Recall of Oceanside City Councilman Jerry Kern.  Despite being outspent, Michael led the campaign to a victory, defeating the recall 63.2% to 36.8%.  

Michael’s experience extends into government affairs. He consulted on legislation for the TPL Group, a High Tech Firm located in the heart of Silicon Valley. Michael has also sat on several boards and commissions for the City of San Jose including serving as the Mayors representative on the San Jose Youth Commission and serving on the San Jose Police Chiefs Advisory Committee on Youth Relations.

Michael graduated from Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, California, May 2009.  He received a double major in Politics and History.  He was born and raised in San Jose, California
